Type design project. Latin version to the classic Hebrew typeface.

Type Design course | Was done During exchange semester in HAW Hamburg.
The decision to design a latin type harmonic to David came with a sence of  awe and excitment. At the begining I believed my jobe was to look for ways to combine the unique shapes of Ismar David's letters in my latin type and still be committed to the latin anatomy. This was my approach in my first sketches. I looked at the calligraphic structure, at the ground breaking serifs, and at the typical leg of the Hebrew letters Ismar David designed. As I continued the work, my approach has changed.   I examined typefaces which reminded me of David in order to come back to it later in my advenced sketches. One of my first decisions was to search for a squerish inner counter in a way that matches the latin anatomy and influenced by Hebrew David typeface. Eventually, I understood that my jobe was to convey the classic and yet innovative spirit of the Hebrew typeface. My goal was to preserve the contrast, rhythm, atmosphire and color of the David typeface in latin.
